The Killer's Tears is a very moving book. It takes place in Chile where Paolo and his parents live. One day they get a visitor, Angel Allegria, and he kills both of Paolo's parents. Angel does not kill Paolo. Angel stays with Paolo and actually becomes like a father to him. He cares, protects, and loves him. Because Angel is wanted in many towns for murder,he knows that it is not safe for Paolo to stay with him. The house is in an area which is not usually visited, yet still a traveler stumbles upon it. This traveler is Luis Secunda, a wealthy man looking for a place to stay. Luis is welcomed by Paolo, but Angel feels the need to kill Luis. Pretty soon, they run out of food, and need to leave the land. They decide to travel to a city where Luis can withdraw his money. While visiting, Luis finds a new girlfriend, Delia. He and Delia try to run away with his money without Angel and Paolo knowing. Angel, however, catches Luis, and threatens him. Luis gives Angel half the money, and Angel and Paolo go off on their own. They must leave the town because Angel is wanted for stealing a two men's donkey and horse. When Angel and Paolo are traveling together they run into a man named Ricardo who lives in the middle of the forest. He is very welcoming to them and lets them stay at his house. This is a short lived fairy tail though because Angel flees the house in the middle of the night for the safety of Paolo. Everything changes after that night, as Angel is caught, Ricardo is killed, and Paolo is thought to be abused by Angel, and is taken away from him.
This book gives the message that everyone needs a second chance. It tells us that people can change and that love is always stronger than hate. I would definately recommend this book because it is well written with unexpected plot twists.
